Can you force the sale of a house after 3 year use and possession has expired?

I have had use and possession of my house for 3 years, however, my ex husband won’t negotiate letting me buy him out. He wants the court to sell the house and for me and our children not to have it. He owes me $20,000 in back child support, he has been jailed for nonpayment and I had offered to expunge all of the back support if he would sign the house over. I even should him the spreadsheet of exactly what he would get if we were to go through the courts which would be a negative number because in the original divorce decree I get credit for all mortgage payments made in the last 3 years. I had the home appraised and deducted what is owed and what I would get according to my credit and he gets nothing. I have an attorney but no one seems to know what to do.
